HRH The Prince of Wales visit
Work has now started on the core restoration
project to resolve the structural problems and is due to
complete at the end of June 2007.The Trust continues to raise
funds so that a number of important works currently omitted
from the core programme can be reinstated.
The Trust's Patron, HRH The Prince of Wales, paid a visit to the Royal Hall on Thursday 13th July to see at first hand how the project is progressing. The Prince met a number of people associated with the project as well as a past and potential donors. His Royal Highness announced that he would himself be making a donation - his second - towards the restoration work.
As at the end of August 2006, The Trust's funds stand at £715,000 in the bank with a further £160,000 in pledges. The Trust is, therefore, half-way to its target of raising the £1.8 million needed to complete the restoration.
